Building an XBRL Basel II Solution in Europe Ignacio Boixo, COREPProject Coordinator, Bank of Spain On 18 January 2005, the Committee of EuropeanBanking Supervisors (CEBS) agreed to start a formal consultation with thebanking industry, market participants and end-users to achieve a CommonReporting framework of the solvency ratio by credit institutions (Basel II).The recommended solution is based on theXML/XBRL protocol which will allow banks to take full advantage of theframework. The intention is to complete an XML/XBRL coding for this frameworkbefore June 2005.
